Kapurpurawan Rock Formation - Nature's Artwork

It is located in Poblacion, Burgos, Ilocos Norte It is a massive rock that just out into the sea. From afar, it looks as if someone has wiped off the top layer frosting and exposed the cake that lies beneath. Up close, it is a dazzling bright white rock that sparkles in the sun. Kapurpurawan is a showcase for the power of wind and water on rock and coral.

I was wondering how I missed this fantastic attraction of Ilocos considering I have been to Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte several times.what is Kapurpurawan? our tour guide told us that, in ilocano it means "white".

It is Truly an extra ordinary sight. It is fast becoming one of the major tourist spots of Ilocos in addition to it's old churches, beautiful beaches and sumptuous cuisine.

It is also one of the promotional pictures of DOT that you can see in Toll gates of NLEX.

Glad got the chance to see and visit this breath taking 'Nature's Artwork'.

In addition, according to the locals, the upper beak of the rock looks like a Sphinx or head of sleeping dragon changes every year through natural conditions.

Tips:

* Wear a protective shoes. My sandals/slippers protected my poor feet a little but i could walk faster if I was wearing a closed shoes.
* Be extra careful since some parts of the trek is slippery. One of us tripped over the corals before she knew it, she slipped…
* Head off to the rock formation for more views and of course take some wonderful shots.
* No entrance fee. It is really an all-natural attraction. No vendors, nothing. Just pure nature.
